Martin Barr is revved up and ready to go for his home round of the British championship this Sunday at Desertmartin.
Barr is currently fifth in the championship after a tough first round (7-DNF) that left The Revo Husqvarna mounted man fighting from behind in a bid to win the British MX2 title. But Barr hasn’t been off the podium since, claiming second overall at round two and winning round three at Blaxhall, Barr has the momentum on his side.
He is 40 points behind championship leader Conrad Mewse who has shown some blistering speed at GP level, but if anyone can run Mewse’ GP pace it is Barr, and he is determined to try and repeat his win of last season this weekend!
“I’m really looking forward to the Desert this weekend,” commented Barr. “The track is looking awesome and the weather is looking good so hopefully there will be a big crowd to support all us local lads!”
Barr is focussed on getting the points gap Mewse reduced and is once again going for the win in front of his home crowd on his Revo Husqvarna. “I’ll be looking to repeat my performance from last year but it won’t be easy as there are a lot of fast riders. But I’ve had a good week’s preparation so I’m raring to go and hope to claw back some points in the championship.”
The racing is sure to be fast and intense in the MX2 class and with plenty of riders on form as well as Mewse and Barr there should be some exciting racing. But the partisan crowd will, as always, be getting right behind Martin Barr and his quest for another win at the desert!
