Barr and Shipton on round two of the British Masters

Last weekend saw the second round of 2019’s Bridgestone Masters MX Championship at the Wroxton circuit in Oxfordshire. Much like the MX Nationals Series, the MX1 and MX2 Pro riders line up together but are scored independently to secure the overall result in each class.

We are pleased to let you know that Crescent Yamaha’s rider Jake Shipton remains on top of the MX1 class after dominating both races and taking the overall win, while Martin Barr rode valiantly qualifying 5th in the MX2 class, challenging the 450’s and finishing 4th and 3rd in Sunday’s races for a 5th overall. The next race is this weekend for round 3 of the MX Nationals at Lyng, Norfolk.

Jake – “Happy to get the win on the weekend. I’ve been slowly building myself back up and we have ironed out a few little issues we had at Canada Heights. The bike was mega and everything worked well. The track was really fun and fast but also really technical and you couldn’t switch off at all. Long deep ruts which you always had to look for a smooth line to carry your speed. They really need to get a British Championship up there.”

Martin – “After an average start in race 1, I quickly worked my way up to 3rd behind the front two but a crash on lap 3 dropped me down the field, I picked myself back up with a pretty bent bike and managed to crawl my back to 4th! I made a bit of a better start in race 2 running 3rd but struggled to find a good flow to pull in the leaders so ended up 3rd for 5th overall whick I’m really disappointed with. It was one of those weekends but I’ll shake it off and come back strong this weekend”
