Anstie on Team GB chances in Assen and update for 2020

This time last year was a worrying time for Max Anstie as he had no ride in place for the 2019 season. At the last minute, the Standing Construct KTM team stepped up to sign him for the 2019 season and run a three rider line up.

It’s unlikely the Standing Construct KTM team will run three riders again in 2020 but Anstie will be hoping he can stay with the team for another season.

“I am really really thankful for Tim Mathys for giving me the opportunity this year with Standing Construct. I mean, man, I was in a tough situation last year. I am loving it and having a really good time, I’ve got a great mechanic and a great group of people working around me. We are trying to get these results and I’ve got good team mates”, commented Anstie.

“For sure, I’d love to stay, I’m in talks at the moment. I’m talking to Tim but at the moment we will see what happens. Hopefully in the next few weeks we will know more. This time of the year is tough, there’s a lot of MX2 riders coming up, there’s a lot of riders but not enough teams and bikes for how many riders there are.  I’m going to see in the next few weeks but I honestly, really do love my team and the guys have done a great job, I am really happy with all of them”, the Brit added.

Anstie was also asked about his thoughts on team GB’s chances for the Motocross Des Nations which heads to Assen in September.

“As far the Motocross Des Nations goes, I think Mark Chamberlain is actually here at Lommel.  I guess he will be making a decision. For me, I just have to focus on my job. I do think Ben (Watson) even though he’s an injured hand, Adam Sterry has been riding well, Shaun (Simpson) he’s won around here before. We have a good group of sand riders, it’s a shame Tommy (Searle) couldn’t ride (Lommel) because he hurt his ribs. It’s a shame because he’s got a factory bike now. We’ve got a lot of good riders, I think team Holland will be hard to beat but I do think if we all put solid results in that we’ll be good. I mean I think we can definitely be on the box again. I am looking forward to it”, stated Anstie.

It’s going to be a tough choice for Mark Chamberlain to select the best team this year but if all three riders ride to their potential in Assen there’s no reason why they can’t get on the box. They’re all strong in the sand which will suit team GB.
